Tart After Dark

Tart After Dark is our thriving monthy Supper Evening series which has been extremely popular with customers and foodie critics alike!

Held on a Thursday evening, usually in the fourth week of each month, a set menu is devised by our Head Chef Andrew Griffin around a particular theme. These have ranged from a 1970s retro menu to a Northern Italian Banquet. Using local produce wherever possible and including vegetarian options, dinner is a set price including a complimentary drink on arrival.

What people have said about Tart After Dark

"Best known for its staggering array of cakes and afternoon teas, Gloucester Road cafe Tart only opens during the day, but owner Jennie Bashforth has finally caved in to customer pressure and decided to open in the evening – for one night only each month. The result is the cheekily named Tart After Dark, the sixth of which took place last week.. An evening of great food, the smoothest and friendliest service and, at £30 a head (plus drinks), very good value." Read the full Bristol Evening Post review, 24 March 2011

"We’d been looking forward to this one for ages! After having attended the Portuguese Supper that Gloucester Road’s Tart Cafe & Foodstore recently hosted, we booked our tickets for their Retro Supper as soon as the email about it pinged into our inboxes. Just as well, as owner Jennie told us on the night that tickets had sold out within 48 hours… Incredibly tasty with a ridiculously light puff pastry... Tart’s take on the classic Duck A L’Orange featured grilled but still beautifully pink duck breast and a massive confit leg: the skin crispy and salty, the meat rich and full of flavour... We certainly weren’t disappointed when the desserts arrived: a stack of Swiss roll-style chocolate cake filled with whipped cream and sandwiched with black cherries. We may have been getting very full by that point, but there’s no way I was leaving any of this on my plate!" Read the full Bristol Bites review 27 May 2011
